We just offset a year of travel!

As #Leaders, we do what’s right. We know the value of face-to-face client engagements, but also understand that travel comes at a cost to our natural world. A few days ago, Crescent Leadership purchased 30 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) offsets through the Clean Development Mechanism operated and administered by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Our carbon offsets come from Ripple Africa, in beautiful Malawi. Their fuel-efficient stoves reduce household wood use and improve the health of the women and children who cook the food. The picture you see here is of a householder named Rebecca using her improved cookstove built with the help of Ripple Africa. Our offset investments provide funding to replace open fires with better stoves, plant more trees, and conserve more forests.

The Mission of Crescent Leadership is to transform the systems that inhibit organizations and communities from learning, evolving, innovating, optimizing, and enduring. Our work complements Ripple Africa’s aim to empower communities so they can achieve a sustainable future. Ripple Africa has worked in Malawi since 2003 and they are perpetually evolving their approach by optimizing their cookstoves and tree planting projects. They learn from the communities where they work in order to build an enduring and sustainable future.

Recognizing that our world needs urgent help from all of us, we’re excited about this next step in our journey to transform systems through leadership. We hope our actions inspire other individuals and companies to follow the same path.
